| Vehicle | Ranch King Just an old riding mower with a Briggs and Stratton 8HP engine behind/under the driver. We found it abandoned in a neighbors yard. |
| Motor | General Electric 5BC448JB152 Series Wound DC Nice 36V series motor taken from an old 3-wheel golf cart. I cleaned it up, replaced the bearings, and painted it. |
| Drivetrain | single belt reduction to transmission. Mechanical F/N/R. |
| Controller | contactor controller 2 speeds. Low through a golf cart resistor. High is direct to battery. |
| Batteries | 2, 12.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Flooded whatever old batteries I can scrounge. currently 2 SLI batteries on loan from by brother. |
| System Voltage | 24 Volts |
| Charger | probably individual 12V battery chargers. Individually charging at the moment. Maybe go solar? |
| Heater | running in low speed heats the resistor under the drivers seat. |
| DC/DC Converter | tap the pack |
| Instrumentation | volt meter and an ammeter, as aquired |
| Top Speed | 8 MPH (12 KPH) moves too fast for mowing at 36V, just right at 24V. |
| Acceleration | a bit neck snapping |
| Range | still have snow.. and now plow yet! |
| Seating Capacity | 1 adult |
| Tires | Front: Turf Saver 11x4.00-4 Rear: Turf Saver 16x6.50-8 |
| Conversion Cost | mower: ? plow: ? charger: ? motor: $60 (motor, bearings, paint) controller: $5 (wire) misc: $30 (cable, lugs, belt, bolts, etc) |
| Additional Features | -Re-covered the seat -Outdoor carpet in foot area -New paint all over -Better brake adjustment. Planned: -build a utility trailer -add an underbelly multiblade mower deck (originally had a single large blade). -add a front lift mechanism for a plow/dozer attachment (probably overkill as it is a light duty "tractor"). |
| Mostly just a fun project to tinker with. Always in progress. It got it drivable over the new year. No mower deck or plow yet, but kinda fun to just drive around. | |
